THE PROJECT

Designed by architect Jacques Ferrier and built by Chantiers Modernes Construction (leader) and Arbonis, both subsidiaries of VINCI Construction France, Aqualagon is the flagship project of Villages Nature Paris (a joint venture between Pierre et Vacances-Center Parcs and Euro Disney), located 32 km from Paris in the municipalities of Villeneuve-le-Comte, Bailly-Romainvilliers and Serris (Seine-et-Marne). A real technical feat, Aqualagon is a 280-meter long glass pyramid with 7,000 square meters of floor space on four levels and includes a wave pool, six giant slides, a river, a spa, three Jacuzzis and two wading pools. The pyramid is extended by three outdoor pools with a total surface area of 3,500 m², including a pool heated to 30°C all year round and a 2,100 m² lagoon. This site is also remarkable in terms of wood construction, with massive pieces (some weighing 4.5 tons) in the shape of giant boomerangs that make up the framework of the pyramid. This project required 800 m3 of spruce and Douglas fir.
