IFC/BIM Module
cadwork has been an early adopter of the BIM process. Indeed, IFC import and export functions have been implemented in cadwork around 2004. It means we have a lot of experience with BIM and have since implemented many different tools to work efficiently in BIM projects.
Interoperability Is a Must
cadwork 3D is a wood construction specialist software and, when working on BIM projects, it is a key to sharing data with other specialists like steel fabricators, architects, engineers, HVAC and more. Since specialists are usually using different software, we talk about Open BIM which cadwork has been supporting and promoting for years. Our BIM “Manager” tool enables to visualize the IFC file structure in a tree view with the ability to filter the information quickly to eventually convert elements allowing adding more details for future fabrication and installation. Our attributes mapper feature has the ability to bring relevant data, or property sets into your cadwork model and apply them freely to an attribute. The BCF manager is another BIM tool available at your fingertip. BCF stands for BIM Collaboration Format and enables users to share issues with partners on the project without the need to send a complete model. This tool can be implemented without the need to share data with partners but used on large in-house projects to keep track of issues and share them between colleagues.

The cadwork software suit continues to evolve to ensure the best efficiency when working on BIM projects. As a matter of fact, cadwork is the only wood construction software certified for both IFC import and export which is an important guarantee of quality.
What is included in the ProBuild package?
Most of the time, fabricators and building companies receive an IFC file from the architect or engineer with the task to create a fabrication model. The ability to import / export an IFC file and assign appropriate attributes (meta data) is sufficient. This is exactly what can be done in our ProBuild package. For those working on larger projects with multiple actors supplying several IFC files, the cadwork BIM module will be required. It allows importing multiple IFC files, map attributes or property set and access the BCF features to keep track of issues and share them within the file or in the cloud.
